Tesla has unveiled its first flying-capable Roadster, sparking global excitement and raising expectations about the future of transportation.
American electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla has taken a major step towards the future of transportation after unveiling its first flying-capable sports car, the next-generation Tesla Roadster.
The groundbreaking event took place on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at SpaceX‘s rocket testing facility in McGregor, Texas, United States, attracting widespread attention from technology enthusiasts, automotive experts and investors.
During the spectacular demonstration, the futuristic electric vehicle performed several remarkable stunts, including driving upside down, lifting off the ground and executing mid-air manoeuvres.
The Roadster uses advanced rocket-inspired thrusters developed in collaboration with SpaceX, another company led by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk.
The technology allows the vehicle to perform movements beyond the capabilities of conventional sports cars.

Tesla also showcased the vehicle’s extraordinary speed, claiming it can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in less than one second, making it one of the fastest-accelerating sports car prototypes ever demonstrated.
The unveiling comes nearly nine years after Tesla first introduced the second-generation Roadster concept in 2017.
Originally expected to enter production in 2020, the project experienced several delays as the company shifted its attention towards other technologies.
Speaking during the unveiling, Musk highlighted the company’s ambition to push the boundaries of automotive engineering and redefine what electric vehicles can achieve.
Despite the excitement surrounding the demonstration, the flying Roadster remains a prototype rather than a commercially available vehicle.

Questions also remain about safety regulations, aviation certification and whether the technology can be approved for everyday transportation.
Tesla is now targeting 2028 for the commencement of production, although pricing and delivery details remain uncertain.
The unveiling marks an important technological milestone, demonstrating how automotive engineering and aerospace innovation could reshape future transportation.
