NYSC members will get their new allowance from March 2025/Lionscrib
The Director General of NYSC said the implementation of the new allowance regime will take effect from March 2025.
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has assured corps members that the federal government will implement their new allowance of 77,000 naira by March 2025.
This information was made public by the Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, on Thursday, March 20, 2025, during an interactive session with corps members at the NYSC Zonal Offices in Wuse and Garki, Abuja.
“With effect from March, you will receive seventy-seven thousand naira as your monthly allowance,” Brigadier General Olakunle said.
“NYSC is efficient in record-keeping, and I assure you that your payments will be made.
“The nation and the scheme appreciate you.”
He further urged corps members to stay committed and focused on their service to the nation, hailed the vision of the scheme’s founding fathers, and called for continuous support from relevant stakeholders.

Brigadier General Olakunle further highlighted the pivotal role NYSC plays in national peace and unity and the emphasis on national values such as patriotism.
Currently, corps members earn 33,000 naira as their monthly allowance, but the increase became necessary after the removal of the fuel subsidy and economic instability.
President Tinubu approved a new minimum wage of 70,000, which saw an increase in the allowance of NYSC members.
Critics argue that 77,000 is not enough for corps members’ daily living but want it to be implemented as early as possible to improve the living standard for the scheme members by a little margin.
