Iran has issued a stark warning to US President Donald Trump following his comments suggesting the country’s new leader would not be allowed to live peacefully.
The Iranian regime cautioned President Trump to ‘be careful not to be eliminated’ in response to his remarks that he did not believe the regime’s new Supreme Leader can ‘live in peace’.
Prior to this exchange, Trump had threatened Iran with ‘death, fire, and fury’ over the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and subsequently directed warnings at the country’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.
In a Fox interview, Trump expressed his dissatisfaction with the new Supreme Leader’s appointment, stating that the leader would be unable to ‘live in peace’ and that he was ‘not happy with the appointment.’
He had previously asserted that he would have the final say regarding Iran’s leadership.

Iranian security chief Ali Larijani pushed back against Trump’s statements, asserting that Iran ‘is not afraid of your empty threats’.
Larijani went further, declaring, ‘Even those greater than you could not eliminate the Iranian nation. Take care of yourself not to be eliminated!’
This warning from Larijani follows closely on the heels of an Iranian operative being convicted for plotting to assassinate Mr. Trump during the 2024 presidential campaign.
Trump’s campaign had previously been alerted by national security officials that Iran had been actively targeting him, with multiple reported kill teams operating within the United States.
Asif Merchant, a Pakistani national with ties to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was found guilty on Saturday of orchestrating the assassination plot.
