Grammy-winning artist Tems has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first female musician from Africa to secure seven placements on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States.
The singer reached this achievement when her track “What You Need” made its chart debut at number 93 this week.
Her seven total appearances now tie her with Nigerian artist Burna Boy and South African rock group Seether for the highest number of Billboard Hot 100 entries by any act from the African continent.

Tems previously set a groundbreaking record in 2022 when she became the first African musician to debut at the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with her collaborative single “Wait for U” alongside Future and Drake.
Next week’s chart is anticipated to feature “Bunce Road Blues,” a J. Cole track that includes Tems and Future.
