Nigerian artiste and entertainer, Burna Boy has won the Viewer’s Choice: Best New International Act category of the BET Awards.
The “Twice As Tall” album crooner was announced the winner at the 2021 BET Awards ceremony on Sunday, June 27, at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
Other artistes who were nominated in the same category included Nigerian singer, Wizkid, and Tanzanian singer, Diamond Platnumz.
Unlike in 2019, when he couldn’t attend the event and collect the award himself, he was present for this just concluded BET Awards.
While speaking to the crowd, he mentioned that he was interested in teaching them a little bit of Pidgin English.
He said: “I made it this time to collect my award myself. I want to teach you guys a little bit about where you are all really from,” he added with his mum standing beside him.
He then went ahead to urge them to speak a phrase in Pidgin English.
The Port Harcourt-born musician is definitely making a mark, winning the Grammy, the BET Awards, and other awards and nominations which are tied to his blockbuster albums.
