Hint Lord
The UFC champion surprised fans with his appearance in the video of the hit track.
Nigerian singer and Grammy Award winner, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, known as Burna Boy dropped the video of his latest song titled “Ballon d’Or” on Friday, January 7, 2022.
Burna Boy featured another Nigerian singer and Grammy Award winner, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid in the song. Ballon d’Or is a reference to the most prestigious award for football players.
In the video, Burna Boy and Wizkid were seen holding the Ballon d’Or award as each artist deliver their verse of the song.
It was, however, surprising in the video that popular UFC fighter, Kamaru Usman, appeared as a guest. In the video, Burna Boy and Wizkid were performing while the reigning welterweight champion was holding his belt. There are several scenes in the video where Usman was seen vibing to the Afrobeat sound. This is the first time the world fighting champion has appeared in a music video.
The Edo State-born fighter is the first Nigerian to win the UFC title and he is a strong fan of Burna Boy. Kamaru Usman has on several occasions used Burna Boy’s hits to walk into the octagon before a fight. The last time he used Burna’s sound as entrance theme before a fight was in November 2021, at the Madison Square Garden for his match against Colby Covington.
Though born in Auchi, Edo State, Nigeria, Usman migrated to the U.S when he was just eight years. His father is a retired major in the Nigerian Army while his mother was a teacher in Benin City. The 34-year-old fighter competes in the welterweight division of UFC and he is the reigning champion of the division. He is also the number 1 in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound ranking.
