President Félix Tshisekedi is seeking reelection for a second term in power.
President Félix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of the Congo has slammed President Paul Kagame of Rwanda and labelled him a dictator.
Tshisekedi, who is currently campaigning for reelection, likened his Rwandan counterpart to former German leader Adolf Hitler.
The Congolese president believes Rwanda is sponsoring rebels in the east of DR Congo, which Kagame’s government has constantly denied.
During a rally in Bukavu, which is close to the Rwandan border, Tshisekedi made his claims again and hit out at Kagame, saying, “I promise he will end up like Hitler.”

Reacting to Tshisekedi’s remarks, the spokesperson for the Rwandan government described it as “a loud and clear threat.”
President Tshisekedi is trying to win a second term in the country’s election set to take place in less than two weeks.
Despite the presence of UN and regional troops and several attempts to end the fighting in DR Congo’s east through ceasefire deals, insecurity is still a major challenge in the area.
Multiple armed groups including Tutsi’s M23 rebels who President Tshisekedi believes is sponsored by Rwanda, has continued to cause mayhem to the region.
In a report released earlier this year by a UN group of experts, findings showed that M23 plays a major role in the conflict.
M23 has forced thousands of Congolese people to flee their homes by seizing their territories.
President Tshisekedi further said to supporters that “since he (Paul Kagame) wanted to behave like Adolf Hitler by having expansionist aims, I promise he will end up like Adolf Hitler.
“However, he has met his match, someone who is determined to stop him and protect his country.”
