The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has been permanently suspended from high profile social media platform, Twitter. Trump’s suspension from Twitter comes two days after riots at the Capitol left four civilians and a police officer dead. Twitter in an official statement disclosed that the suspension of Trump’s account is to enable them avoid ‘’ the risk of further incitement of violence.’’
After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them — specifically how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter — we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence
It will be recalled that Trump was temporarily suspended from Twitter on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, for 12 hours following the invasion at the Capitol. After his account was reactivated, Trump made two posts, hailing his 75 million voters as patriots and revealing he would not be present at the inauguration ceremony of Joe Biden. Both tweets would lead to his permanent ban from the platform.

Following Twitter’s ban, Trump tweeted from the official account of the US President, stating that he is looking out for another social media platform that would promote the course of his followers, and rivaling Twitter. These tweets were however brought down shortly after posting them.
