Kim Kardashian says staying single for five years gave her the space to heal, reset and rethink what she wanted from love.
Kim Kardashian has opened up about taking a long break from serious relationships, revealing that she spent about five years largely single while focusing on healing, her family and her personal growth.
The 45-year-old reality television star and SKIMS founder discussed her love life in a recent interview with The Times, explaining that after the end of her marriage to Kanye West, she did not feel any pressure to quickly enter another relationship.
“I was really single for five years,” Kardashian said, adding that the period allowed her to focus more closely on her children and the projects she genuinely wanted to pursue.
Kardashian filed for divorce from West in 2021 after nearly seven years of marriage. The former couple share four children: North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm.

Although Kardashian dated comedian Pete Davidson for about nine months following her separation from West, she described herself as largely single during the five-year period. Their relationship ended in 2022.
According to Kardashian, being without a serious partner did not leave her feeling lonely or incomplete.
Instead, she said she wanted time to work on herself and fully recover emotionally before becoming open to love again.
“I wanted to completely heal and just work on myself,” she explained, adding that she was not ready to open up at the time.
Her comments come as Kardashian is now romantically linked with Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton.

The pair have been publicly connected in 2026, although Kardashian has continued to keep much of the relationship private.
For Kardashian, the years away from serious dating appear to have been less about searching for another partner and more about rediscovering what she wanted from life, motherhood and future relationships.
