American rapper, DMX, is critically ill and has been placed on life support. The ‘Party Up (Up In Here)’ crooner was rushed to a hospital in White Plains, New York, on the night of Friday, April 2, 2021, after suffering a heart attack owing to drug overdose. Earl Simmons (DMX) has been placed in the critical care unit and doctors have warned that he might not make it out alive.
The rapper’s lawyer, Murray Richman, had on Saturday noted that X was out of life support but retraced his statements later and told the public that DMX remains in life support. Murray added: “We are concerned. It would be disingenuous of me to suggest that I’m not a worried man at this particular point.”
Further, a statement from the rapper’s representative revealed the state of his health and thanked the public for ‘’the overwhelming outpouring of heartfelt love, encouragement, support and prayers for Earl.’’
The statement reads:
“Last night Earl ‘DMX’ Simmons was rushed to the hospital after collapsing at home. At this time he remains in ICU in critical condition. Earl has been a warrior his entire life. This situation represents yet another road he must conquer.
“The Simmons Family appreciates the overwhelming outpouring of heartfelt love, encouragement, support and prayers for Earl. Earl is someone whose life and music have been a source of inspiration and strength to so many people around the world. It is reassuring to see his fans return that same passion and energy to him during his time of need.”
DMX has struggled with drug addiction for a long while. The last time he checked into rehab was October 2019. It will be recalled that DMX in a podcast with fellow hip–hop star, Talib Kweli (People’s Party podcast), blamed his addiction on being tricked by someone he considers a mentor at the age of 14 into smoking crack.
“I was in Yonkers. This guy, ‘Ready Ron,’ he was like an older brother to me’’
