Southgate has not invited Sancho to the team for almost a year.
Manchester United forward, Jadon Sancho, has expressed disappointment after being snubbed by the English national team coach, Gareth Southgate, in the 28-man list for their UEFA Nations League clashes against Italy and Germany.
Southgate released the list on Thursday, September 15 with the name of Sancho missing despite series of impressive performances which has seen him score three times in eight matches for Manchester United so far this season.
Sancho, 22, has featured 23 times for the Three Lions but has not been invited since October 2021 when he played in England’s 5-0 win over Andorra in a Nations League match.
Despite the disappointment, Sancho has vowed to work hard and not give up on the chances of featuring for England at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The deadline set for submission of squad for the World Cup is November 13, 2022.
“It is disappointing not to get a call-up but I have to keep working hard and hopefully I do get the call-up for the World Cup…I just have to focus on myself and carry on working hard.’’

Reacting to the omission of certain players, Southgate noted that it is not the end.
“There were certain players we wanted to keep involved this time…But that said it doesn’t mean that this is the end for some of the others who aren’t involved.’’

England is drawn in Group B of the global showpiece and will be looking to see off their group opponents, Iran, USA, and Wales.
