Obi does not command strong support in Northern Nigeria.
Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has vowed that northern Nigeria will be forever grateful to him if he becomes president in 2023. The former Anambra State governor made this disclosure On Thursday, November 3, 2022 during an engagement with the global community of the OBIdients Support Groups via zoom.
Obi lamented the state of the agricultural sector, noting that over 50 percent of Nigeria’s arable lands are not being cultivated. The Labour Party presidential candidate insisted that the country’s greatest physical asset is the vast lands that have not being cultivated especially in the north.
“The biggest physical asset of Nigeria is the vast uncultivated land in Nigeria. If I’m given the opportunity to serve this country, the North will know that they’ve voted somebody they will forever remain grateful and proud of because I’m going to change the North. Those vast land Nigeria have today, over 50 per cent of its fertile, arable land uncultivated, no other nation can say a thing like that. Not one. So we need to cultivate it, we need to deal with it.’’
Peter Obi
Obi commands strong support in southern Nigeria as he continues with efforts aimed at winning the support of Nigeria’s north which boasts the country’s highest voters’ population.
