Osimhen has been in top form for Napoli.
Super Eagles of Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen, has set a record as Nigeria’s highest goal scorer in the Italian Serie A. The SSC Napoli striker hit the record on Saturday, November 5, 2022 during his club’s 2-1 win over Atlanta in the Italian league.
Another Nigerian, Ademola Lookman, gifted Atlanta the lead after converting a penalty. Osimhen who currently tops the goal scorers’ chart in Italy equalized for Luciano Spaletti’s men before setting up Eljif Elmas for Napoli’s second goal.
Osimhen’s goal took his tally in Serie A to 32, one goal ahead of Simy Nwankwo who previously held the record of being Nigeria’s highest goal scorer in Italy with 31 goals.
The former Lille OSC man who is also impressive in the national team front has drawn the attention of European top sides like Manchester United and will be looking to score more. Napoli currently tops the Italian Serie A with six points over second-placed AC Milan.
