After weeks of refusing to congratulate media-projected winner of the United States Presidential elections, Joe Biden, Chinese President, Xi Jinping, have finally sent in a message congratulating the Biden/Harris presidency. It will be recalled that after many media outlets announced Biden as winner of the election over two weeks ago, China alongside Russia refused to congratulate the Democratic candidate for undisclosed reasons. President Trump’s refusal to admit defeat has kept the conquest still open though most of his legal challenges have been tossed out of court.
Promoting the healthy and stable development of China-US relations is not only in the fundamental interests of both peoples, but also meets the common expectation of the international community. I hope to see both sides uphold the spirit of non-conflict, non-confrontation, mutual respect and win-win cooperation, and focus on cooperation while managing and controlling disputes
Xi Jinping
