Student Kills Her Newborn Baby After Throwing From A Three-Story Building

A pregnant female student of the Federal University Dutse (FUD) allegedly delivered a baby on Monday, June 10, and murdered the child on the same day.

The student, who is yet to be identified, reportedly threw the baby from the top of a three-story building after giving birth in a toilet.

Footage circulating on social media shows the lifeless body of the baby lying on the concrete floor after falling from the top of the building.

Two students went to the spot and wrapped the baby and the placenta, which had been discarded, in a towel.

The student, who is said to be in her 200 level, drew a mammoth crowd while being escorted by the school authority.

Reacting to the incident, the Federal University Dutse spokesperson, Abdullahi Bello, said relevant authorities have been notified of the incident and assured that a full investigation would be carried out.

“Immediate medical attention was provided to the student following the incident,” Bello said. 

“The university administration is conducting a thorough investigation and taking necessary measures to address the situation.”

It is not the first time such an event has happened at a Nigerian university.

Most of the students found guilty of committing such crimes are expelled from the institution involved, and it is not certain if they get to serve prison terms.
