Rivers United coach, Stanley Eguma, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Enugu on Wednesday.
Confirming the incident, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, the Police Public Relations Officer, said the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Mohammed Aliyu, has ordered the immediate rescue of the Rivers United coach.
According to reports, Eguma was kidnapped on Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway at about 4 p.m, on his way from Gombe State, where his team lost to Adamawa United on Sunday.
The statement read:
“The unidentified gunmen, operating in a white Hilux van, trailed and forced the black Hilux van conveying Eguma to stop.
“The assailants pushed two of the passengers out and made away with the black Hilux, abducting Eguma in the process.”
The commissioner urged the public to convey any useful information about the incident to the police.
