Ganduje says Tinubu will pick a Northern Muslim as Vice President.
Governor of Kano State Umar Ganduje has stated that the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu has agreed to go with a Muslim as his running mate in the 2023 presidential election.
Channels TV reports that Ganduje made the disclosure during a meeting of about 100 Islamic clerics in the Kano State government house as part of celebrations for the Eid-el-Kabir.
“We have advised him to pick a Muslim deputy and he has agreed. A Muslim-Muslim ticket is a reality. It is not something new in Nigeria,” Ganduje told the clerics.
Ganduje would further urge the clerics to pray for Tinubu’s bid to become president.
The statement from Ganduje is disturbing as it gives off signs of religious affiliations coming into play in a time Nigeria needs to shun such vices and focus on electing credible candidates to save the country from its present economic, security, and health challenges, alongside other problems.
