Obi, Tinubu, and Atiku set to square off at the polls.
With 147 days left until the 2023 general election, campaigns have officially kicked off across the country. Nigeria’s electoral body, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), set September 28, 2022 as the official date for political parties to commence their campaigns.
18 presidential candidates are expected to slog it out on the Election Day, February 25, 2023, in what looks like a three horse race between Labour Party’s Peter Obi, All Progressive Congress’ Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Peoples Democratic Party’s Atiku Abubakar.
While PDP has declared that it is fully ready for campaigns to kick off despite internal party crisis, the APC have postponed the commencement of its campaigns in other to create room for more members in its campaign council. Peter Obi and his Labour Party are yet to set up a campaign council and noted that they are still consulting stakeholders regarding membership of its campaign train, and will equally make their manifesto public soon.
