President Tinubu expects further politician crossovers to the ruling All Progressive Congress party while highlighting his administration’s accomplishments amid Nigeria’s challenging economic conditions.
On Thursday, May 22, President Bola Tinubu expressed his anticipation of additional politicians switching allegiance to the governing All Progressives Congress before the 2027 general elections.
The President expressed satisfaction with his administration’s and the APC’s accomplishments, noting that he wouldn’t anticipate individuals remaining aboard ‘a vessel taking on water without safety equipment.’
According to his spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu delivered these remarks during the APC Renewed Hope Agenda Summit at the State House Conference Centre on Thursday.
The event brought together party officials, the National Working Committee, National Assembly leadership, and the Progressive Governors’ Forum representing 22 state governors.
The President emphasized that his administration’s emphasis on economic restructuring for sustainable benefits continues to garner favorable assessments both domestically and internationally.

Tinubu stated: ‘A single-party democracy isn’t appropriate for democratic governance. We represent one party in power while advancing Nigerian aspirations.”
“You wouldn’t anticipate individuals staying aboard a vessel taking on water without safety equipment.
“I’m satisfied with our accomplishments and anticipate additional supporters joining us; such is the nature of politics.”
The President noted that citizens possess the constitutional freedom to select their political associations.
“I appreciate all of you. I feel completely energized. We’re merely at the midpoint of the path we began 24 months ago,” he remarked.
He expressed gratitude to Federal Executive Council members for boldly pursuing the vision of an improved Nigeria, as well as to party leadership and the National Assembly for their backing.
“Collectively, we committed to addressing Nigeria’s difficulties directly by reconstructing confidence, encouraging prosperity, and reviving our nation’s economic mission,” Tinubu continued.
“Today, I’m pleased to confirm that our economic restructuring efforts are producing results. Nothing worthwhile comes without effort in life.
“All of you have experienced life, and occasionally, only difficult choices can create future ease.
“We simply couldn’t afford to mortgage our children’s and future generations’ prospects. Through our Renewed Hope Agenda, our government promised to address economic volatility, enhance nationwide security, minimize corruption, reform governance, and elevate our citizens from poverty.
“How quickly could anyone have reconstructed this nation? Permitting the exchange rate arbitrage to persist represents the foundation of corruption.
“You witnessed the EFCC recovering over seven hundred and fifty properties from a single individual,” the President stated.
President Tinubu acknowledged the reforms represented difficult choices but reassured Nigerians of their necessity.
“Indeed, we faced obstacles upon taking office in May 2023, but we’ve achieved advancement by executing challenging, long-delayed yet essential economic restructuring,” he stated.
“We’ve eliminated the arbitrage-fueled multiple foreign exchange systems, and our comprehensive tax reforms are approaching.
‘Due to these reforms, our nation now draws foreign direct investment that will eventually generate employment and produce essential goods and services that will substantially enhance our citizens’ quality of life,” he concluded.
The statements of Tinubu is far from reality as Nigerians continue to grapple with the harsh economic reality of Nigeria, eveident in the devaluation of the naira, increased unemployment, insecurity, and high poverty level.
