The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has restated his prophetic vision regarding his anticipated death, describing a tranquil departure on a Sunday following worship service and enjoying his preferred dish of pounded yams.
During the fourth day of RCCG’s International Convention under the theme “The Overcomers,” Adeboye described his anticipated transition as “swift, painless, and without sickness,” noting that he initially disclosed this vision two years prior to comfort Christians that “death can be a peaceful transition for those in Christ.”
“I will die on a Sunday after attending service, eat my beloved pounded yam, and then pass on without any sickness,” the 82-year-old minister declared before thousands of attendees.
Delivering a sermon titled “Possess Your Possessions,” Adeboye called upon Christians to secure their divinely ordained blessings through prayer, persistence, and spiritual warfare.

“In many cases, you may have to fight for things that are already yours,” he declared, making comparisons to the biblical narrative of Israel’s conquest of the Promised Land.
He outlined healing, prosperity, fruitfulness, and longevity as divine gifts that believers must actively defend against spiritual adversaries.
“Your greatest friend, Jesus Christ, paid a great price to purchase your healing. Yet there is a thief who comes to steal, kill, and destroy. You must fight to live.”
Addressing prosperity, Adeboye criticized societal contradictions: “If you make it as a Christian, they criticise you. If you die poor, they ask, ‘Where’s your God?”
Drawing from biblical accounts of Rachel and Hannah who conquered infertility through prayer, Adeboye urged congregants to resist all forms of spiritual bondage.
“It is what we tolerate that disturbs us. Stop tolerating sickness, poverty, barrenness, or premature death. Fight to possess your possessions; it is your spiritual duty made possible by Christ’s sacrifice” he concluded.
