Fresh violence has hit Kaduna State as gunmen struck a village overnight, leaving dozens dead and a community in mourning.
A wave of violence has struck Kaduna State, with residents reporting that gunmen killed no fewer than 30 people during an attack on a local village in the early hours of Monday.
Eyewitnesses say security forces did not reach the scene until several hours after the assailants had already struck.
The death toll includes eight children, while four other victims were left injured.

As of now, no individual or group has come forward to claim responsibility for the killings.
Attacks carried out by armed bandits have grown into one of the most pressing security concerns in the northern region.
Meanwhile, the northeast continues to battle a prolonged and deadly insurgency waged by the Islamist group Boko Haram.
Analysts point to corruption, weak coordination of intelligence, and chronically underfunded local police forces as key factors undermining the fight against these militants.
The United States weighed into the conflict in December, launching airstrikes against two camps belonging to an Islamist militant faction operating within Nigeria.
