Lilian Afegbai was snubbed by the AMVCA for the Best Supporting Actress category/Lionscrib News
Lilian Afegbai believes she merited a spot in the Best Supporting Actress category at the AMVCA.
Actress Lilian Afegbai has voiced her frustration on X after she was left off the Best Supporting Actress nomination list for the upcoming Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, scheduled to hold on May 9.
The nominees list was released on Sunday, May 29, and Afegbai made clear she felt her performance warranted a spot on it.
Specifically, she believed her portrayal of Idia in Kemi Adetiba’s production To Kill a Monkey should have earned her a nomination in the category.

In a post on X, she directed her anger squarely at the award organizers.
“I always choose to believe everything happens for a reason,” she wrote.
“I don’t need a nomination for validation.
“The truth is clear nobody trended like IDIA from TKAM last year.
“Her acting was 100%.
“You guys can eat your award.”
The Best Supporting Actress category features Linda Ejiofor (The Herd), Olamide Kidbaby (Oversabi Aunty), Bisola Aiyeola (Gingerrr), Sola Sobowale (The Covenant Series), Nadia Dutch (Aljana), Amal Umar (The Herd), Juliebrenda Nyambura (MTV Shuga Mashariki), and Funke Akindele (Behind The Scene).
