The hierarchy at Man United did not plan the sacking of Solskjaer as no clear successor is lined up to replace him.
Former Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane has no interest in becoming Manchester United manager after the exit of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to the BBC.
The hot seat at Old Trafford became vacant on Sunday morning after Ole Gunner Solskjaer was sacked following the Red Devils’ embarrassing 4-1 defeat away to Watford.
A 4-2 loss to Leicester City, 5-0 thrashing in the hands of archrivals Liverpool and a 2-0 defeat to local rivals Manchester City were ignored by the club’s hierarchy before the international break. However, Saturday’s result proved to be the final straw leading to Solskjaer’s dismissal.
Assistant Manager, Michael Carrick has stepped into the fold as caretaker and the likelihood is that an interim manager will be appointed as soon as possible.
BBC reports that Zidane has no interest in taking the job at Old Trafford at the moment on an interim or permanent basis. The report further said that Zidane is seriously looking at becoming manager of the French national side or Paris Saint-Germain, jobs he has been linked with in the past.
The Frenchman is said to be willing to wait for these jobs to become available rather than take the job at Old Trafford.
Current PSG manager, Mauricio Pochettino is also heavily linked with the Man United job with the Red Devils hierarchy hoping they can lure the Argentine back to England. Other names reportedly mentioned are current Ajax coach Eric Ten Haag, and Leicester city manager Brandon Rodgers.
