Eguaveon replaced dismissed Gernot Rohr on December 12.
With barely 12 days left until the commencement of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, Super Eagles of Nigeria interim coach Austine Eguaveon has revealed that he does not get enough sleep lately owing to expectations from Nigerians.
The ex-Nigerian international made this revelation during an interview with NFF TV, saying: “It’s tough. I don’t sleep well because of expectations, but I know not everybody; how do I put it now.
“There are people out there who want us to succeed, there are few people out there who are also in doubt, but we will do everything humanly possible to stick together- the team- the entire federation, officials.
“And we will do what we can to make sure we put smiles on the faces of Nigerians.”
Eguaveon was appointed the interim coach of the three-time African champions after Gernot Rohr was sacked on December 12, 2021. Nigeria is placed in Group D of the tournament alongside seven-time champions Egypt, Sudan, and Guinea Bissau.
The Super Eagles will kick off their 2022 AFCON campaign against the Pharaohs of Egypt on January 11, 2022.
