Jojo scored 14 goals in three matches during ACT’s Italian tour.
Seventeen-year-old Nigerian forward Onwuatuegwu Joseph Ifechukwudi, better known as “Jojo,” has captured international attention with his remarkable scoring prowess during ACT Sports Di Oyibo Football Academy’s recent Italian expedition.
The young striker’s phenomenal tally of 14 goals across just three matches has created significant buzz among European football circles.
Hailing from Kubwa, Abuja, with family roots in Illah, Delta State, Jojo was born on March 1, 2007, and has rapidly emerged as a standout talent on the global stage. The number 11 jersey-wearing forward played a pivotal role in ACT Sports’ attacking dominance throughout their encounters with three under-19 teams and one Serie C club in Torino.

The tour’s most spectacular result saw ACT Sports Nigeria overwhelm Mocchetti FC Italy in a commanding 12-0 triumph. Jojo’s exceptional positioning, spatial awareness, and precise finishing proved overwhelming for the Italian opposition. Such displays have attracted interest from football clubs across Italy and Greece.

Coach Ebeagwu Gabriel Owen, who guided the team alongside ACT Sports President Samuel R. Oyibo, praised the young talent’s qualities.
“Joseph represents the ideal player for any academy to develop,” Owen remarked.
“His concentration, courage, and goal-scoring instinct are remarkable.
“Witnessing his growth throughout this tour has been truly rewarding.”
The squad’s collective performance demonstrated their superiority, accumulating 30 goals while allowing just two across their three fixtures—highlighting their prowess in both offensive and defensive phases. However, Jojo’s individual excellence has become the primary talking point in Torino.
President Oyibo emphasized the tour’s broader significance, stating, “This experience has provided our players, particularly Jojo, with an invaluable opportunity to display their abilities on an international platform. We’re here not merely to participate but to offer these young athletes a pathway to their aspirations. Jojo’s achievements represent a triumph for Nigerian grassroots football development.”
While the team functioned cohesively, Jojo’s clinical finishing ability distinguished him from his peers. Consistently positioning himself strategically, he demonstrated composure and readiness to capitalize on scoring opportunities. His goals impressed not only through quantity but also quality, whether scored from challenging angles or within congested penalty areas.
European club scouts, especially from Italian and Greek organizations, have reportedly expressed strong interest in the promising striker. Although negotiations remain ongoing, there’s considerable optimism that Jojo may secure a contract with a professional European team, representing a significant milestone in his developing career.
An assistant coach, clearly impressed by the young player’s abilities, observed, “We have witnessed a player who netted 14 goals in three games. This demonstrates not merely technical ability but genuine determination. His game intelligence and ability to perform under pressure mark him as truly exceptional.”
As the tour concludes, ACT Sports prepares to return to Nigeria with valuable experience and concrete evidence that Nigerian grassroots football can produce elite-level talent when provided with appropriate opportunities. For Jojo, this represents the opening chapter of what appears to be a promising career trajectory.
In a football-passionate nation seeking new icons, Jojo has taken meaningful strides toward achieving recognition. Based on this tour’s success, his journey appears to be only beginning.
