FIFA Awards Trump Inaugural Peace Prize

The global governing body for international football, FIFA, has given US President Donald Trump an unprecedented honour by bestowing upon him its inaugural international peace prize, citing his work toward promoting global peace.

During the 2026 World Cup draw ceremony held in Washington, DC, on Friday, FIFA president Gianni Infantino personally presented the award to Trump.

The US President had been actively pursuing the Nobel Peace Prize and was considered a frontrunner for FIFA’s newly established award.

Upon accepting a gold medal and gold trophy, Trump stated, “This is truly one of the great honors of my life.”

He added, “Beyond awards, Gianni and I were discussing this, we saved millions and millions of lives.”

The relationship between Trump and FIFA president Gianni Infantino is characterized by close cooperation.

Infantino has been vocal in his belief that Trump deserved Nobel recognition for his role in negotiating a Gaza ceasefire.

The upcoming 2026 World Cup will take place across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Beginning in June, the tournament will be historic in scale, comprising 104 matches held in 16 cities throughout the three host nations.
