The night life business mogul is alleged to have been arrested and quizzed by the EFCC.
Popular Nigerian socialite and businessman Obi Iyiegbu popular with the name Obi Cubana has reportedly being arrested and questioned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Premium Times reports that the millionaire, who hails from Oba in Anambra State, arrived the headquarters of the agency at Jabi, Abuja by 12pm on Monday.
Several media outlets say allegations against the night life king were related to money laundering and tax fraud while EFFC spokesperson Wilson Uwujaren has said he is yet to be briefed on the situation.
Obi Cubana trended on the Nigerian internet space in July after throwing a lavish funeral for his mother Ezzine Iyiegbu in September. After the burial, Obi Cubana has appeared in several interviews and strongly advised youth to stay focused and avoid crime in their pursuit of money.
What We Think
Obi Cubana is a hardworking Nigerian who has beat the odds despite the harsh business realities in the West African nation. We do not know exactly what took him to the EFCC, but we doubt the possibility of finding him guilty of all offences reported.
