The bomb explosion is suspected to have been carried out by Boko Haram.
A suspected bomb explosion in Mubang village, located in Adamawa State’s Hong Local Government Area, left six individuals wounded.
Hong LGA Chairman Usman Inuwa verified the incident in a statement to Punch on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, indicating that Boko Haram is suspected of carrying out the assault.
The same village had been targeted earlier in the month by the group, resulting in 14 fatalities.
“Nobody was killed this time, but six people sustained injuries and are now receiving treatment at the hospital,” Inuwa said.
According to Inuwa, the villages’ proximity to Sambisa Forest, with no settlements separating them, makes the region susceptible to Boko Haram incursions.

The militant group takes advantage of these ungoverned territories to strike at defenseless civilians.
Inuwa noted that joint patrols involving military forces and local vigilante groups operate in the area and have successfully thwarted earlier assaults.
“Last December alone, Boko Haram made three unsuccessful attempts to attack the villages, but this time, unfortunately, they succeeded,” he said.
The chairman urged more robust federal government action.
“Unless the Air Force is deployed to carry out strikes in Boko Haram-occupied areas, and the Army is stationed nearby, these attacks will continue,” he said.
