Wike said Peter Obi's statement is political/Lionscrib News
Wike slammed Obi over comments he made during a recent interview, stating that President Tinubu is yet to call Oyo State governor Seyi Makinde for over six weeks since the kidnap of school pupils and their teachers.
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has said that state governors are the ones responsible for notifying President Tinubu whenever an unfortunate incident occurs in their states, rather than waiting for the President to reach out to them first.
He made this known during a media chat held earlier today, July 9.
Wike was responding to a question about a statement by Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the NDC, who revealed that he visited Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on July 3.
According to Obi, Governor Makinde told him during that visit that more than 50 days after pupils and teachers were kidnapped in Oriire Local Government Area, President Tinubu had still not placed a call to him.
Obi described this as evidence of a failure in leadership.

Responding to Obi’s remarks, Wike said he does not take Obi’s statements seriously, accusing him of politicizing every issue.
“I don’t know how I will value any statement made by Obi,” Wike said.
“He has not shown a man who is not consistent.
“Everything for him is politics.
“I am not in a position to confirm but I do know that if the President did not call Seyi, did Seyi call the President, that this is what has happened in my state
“If he called him and they spoke, what is the problem?
“If something happens in my state now, it is for me to call Mr President first and say this is the problem.
“That is how it is done. You cannot turn it the other way round.
“You are the chief security of that area. If something happens, it is for you to put a call through to Mr President and say this is what has just happened in my state.”
