Social media platform, Twitter, has stated that its ban in Nigeria by the President Muhammadu Buhari government is ‘’deeply concerning.’’ In an email sent to The Cable, Sarah Hart, the Senior Policy Communications Manager for Twitter in Europe, Middle East and Africa, expressed deep concerns about the ban and revealed that they are currently investigating the issue.

In a public statement released on Friday, June 4, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed announced the suspension of Twitter in Nigeria due to the “persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence,” but there are strong points to believe that the ban was owing to the platform’s decision to delete President Buhari’s post on treating ‘’misbehaving’’ Nigerians in the ‘’language they will understand.’’
