American rapper, Lil Wayne, faces the possibility of serving a 10-year jail term after pleading guilty to illegal acquisition of a gold-plated .45-caliber Glock handgun and ammunition as a felon during one of his travels last year (2019) on a private jet. Lil Wayne, 38, during a virtual hearing in the Miami federal court on Friday, December 11, said ‘’ Your honor, I plead guilty.’’ However, his sentence scheduled for January 28, 2021 could be reduced because he has taken responsibility.
Following an anonymous tip, a jet carrying the Cash Money Records rapper was searched by the Miami police and federal agents on December 23, 2019. In addition to the gun found which Lil Wayne claimed was a gift on Father’s Day, authorities noted that they found cocaine, marijuana, heroin, ecstasy, pain killers, and prescription-strength cough syrup, alongside a sum of nearly $26,000 in cash.
