Real Madrid captain, Sergio Ramos, has expressed his belief that the Spanish capital club would have enjoyed more victories over Barcelona if not for Lionel Messi. Ramos who have won four UEFA Champions League titles, only boasts half of Messi’s La Liga title, with the Argentinean winning ten so far, while the Spaniard has won five league titles.
In his documentary titled ‘The Legend of Sergio Ramos,’ the Spanish national team captain revealed that Madrid have ‘’ suffered against Messi.’’
He recalls:
We’ve suffered against Messi during these years. Perhaps if Barcelona didn’t have him, we would have won more titles. There was a time when we faced the best Barcelona in history. We had a great coach like [Jose] Mourinho, but it was hard for us to beat them. We didn’t win much and there was a lot of tension, caused by either them or by us
Barcelona will travel to the Spanish capital this weekend to confront the league champions in the El-Classico on Saturday, April 10, 2021 by 8:00pm (West African Time)
