Abubakar Shekau has died but his actions have left his mother heartbroken.
The dream of every mother is to bear a child that will grow and make them proud, but that is not the story with the mother of late Abubakar Shekau who was popular during his lifetime as the leader of deadly terror group Boko Haram.
Shekau’s mother Falmata Shekau narrated her ordeals in the hands of the terrorist during an interview with Trust TV, expressing regret at birthing Shekau who has gone down in history as one of the deadliest criminals Nigeria has produced.
The former Boko Haram leader was reported to have died in May 2021 after over a decade war against the Nigerian government and citizens which has led to the death of thousands of lives, over three million people displacement, and the destruction of towns, villages, hospitals, schools, and social amenities structures valued at over $9 billion.
Shekau’s mother said she is unaware if he had any children, noting that he “inflicted severe pain on me.’’
I don’t know if he (Shekau) had any offspring. I gave birth to him and that is the only and last thing between us. Whether he is alive or not; we have parted ways. I never knew whether he had any offspring. He inflicted severe pain on me. God Almighty will judge between us in the hereafter
