Permanent Canadian residents in affected countries shall undergo test to enter Canada.
The Canadian Government has issued a travel restriction on Nigeria in a bid to protect herself from the spread of the Omicron coronavirus variant.
This declaration was made on Tuesday November 30 2021 as a number of other countries are included in the ban which include South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Botswana, Eswatini, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Nigeria, Malawi and Egypt.
Omar Alghabra, the Canadian Transport Minister has said foreigners who had been to these countries in the previous 14 days would be temporarily banned from entering Canada.
Alghabra further said Canadians and permanent residents who have been in these countries, even those fully vaccinated, have to be tested before entering Canada.
This comes after the Nigeria Center for Disease and Control (NCDC) announced that two cases of Omicron variant had been detected in the country.
