The pair had different views during the 2020 American elections.
Superstar musician John Legend has disclosed that his friendship with Kanye West ended after he failed to support the latter’s 2020 White House bid and support for former President Donald Trump. Legend noted that it was hard to remain friends with Kanye because they “publicly disagreed on his running for office and supporting Trump.”
The singer-songwriter made this disclosure on CNN’s “The Axe Files” podcast with David Axelrod, stating that they are not “friends as much as we used to be.” He also revealed that Kanye was not impressed with his lack of support.
“He was upset that I didn’t support his run for presidency of the United States of America — for understandable reasons,” Legend said.
“I think it became too much for us to sustain our friendship, honestly…Like, he’s been pretty upfront with his opinions, his struggles, all the things that he’s dealing with. And I think what you see with him is pretty much what you get.”
It will be recalled that Legend publicly supported President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, and performed at the inaugural concert.
