Cassano believes Ronaldo will not meet up his high standards again.
Former Italian national team star, Antonio Cassano, has advised Portuguese star, Cristiano Ronaldo, to retire from football or risk being a regular on the bench following his struggles on the pitch for club and country.
The former Real Madrid star has started just one English Premier League game for Manchester United this season under new manager, Erik ten Hag, and has found it hard to replicate his goal scoring form in previous seasons.
Ronaldo did not impress in Portugal’s 1-0 loss to Spain in the UEFA Nations League on Tuesday, September 27, and has come under heavy criticism from fans and the Portuguese media.Critics have questioned his place in the national team and Cassano feels the Manchester United star is struggling to reach his standards and must retire.
“At this point, Cristiano should do himself a favour and understand that if you don’t reach a certain level, you should close the shop…He won everything, he was a phenomenon. Stop! You have to stop or you’ll only run into the bench.’’

Ronaldo is the highest goal scorer in the history men’s international football with 117 goals for Portugal.
