US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Washington is aware of the situation in Kharkiv, where Russia has made significant advances.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken paid a surprise visit to Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelensky in Kyiv as the war between Ukraine and Russia intensified.
Blinken assured Zelensky of US continued support and vowed that Washington is set to supply Kyiv with weapons that will “make a real difference” against Russia on the battlefield.
The BBC reports that a senior US official disclosed that weapons funded by America as part of aid to Ukraine include ATACMS long-range precision guided missiles, air defence interceptors, and artillery.
Antony Blinken’s visit comes at a very crucial time as Ukrainian forces are struggling to contain a major Russian advance near Kharkiv, the country’s second-biggest city.
Russia’s cross-border offensive in Kharkiv is one of Putin’s most significant ground attacks against Ukrainian forces since the war started.
Reacting to the Ukrainian struggles on the battlefront, US Defence Secretary Grant Shapps said he believes that the globe “took its eye off the ball” regarding the need for arms in Ukraine.

Recall that President Vladimir Putin has vowed not to stop Russian advancement in Ukraine until the United States stops supplying arms to Ukraine.
Putin also said Kyiv must also accept Russian terms for a ceasefire and warned America and France that sending troops to fight for Ukraine will bear heavy consequences, which is capable of leading to World War 3.
