Diddy has been in custody for more than one year.
Cassie Ventura stated she has concerns about her safety and relocated her family from New York in advance of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sentencing scheduled for this week.
“I am so scared that if he walks free, his first actions will be swift retribution towards me and others who spoke up,” the R&B singer, who previously dated Combs, wrote in a victim impact statement.
She submitted her letter as part of the prosecution’s sentencing recommendation for Combs, who received a guilty verdict in July on two counts of transporting for prostitution.
The prosecution has requested an 11-year prison term for the fallen hip-hop executive, whereas his legal team is asking for 14 months, which with credit for time already served would result in his nearly immediate freedom.
Ms Ventura served as the prosecution’s primary witness against Combs. She testified for four days, describing how throughout their 11-year relationship, Combs subjected her to physical and sexual abuse, compelling her to take part in extended, drug-fueled sexual encounters known as “freak-offs.”

She repeats these claims in the letter – marking her first public statement since giving testimony at trial – which she says brought her “tremendous emotional pain.”
While the court convicted Combs of transportation for prostitution involving Ms Ventura and another former girlfriend identified as “Jane,” he was acquitted of the more severe charges including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.
Ms Ventura states in her letter that the jury “failed to see” all of “the truths at hand” and expresses hope that the judge will take into account her fear and suffering when determining the sentence.
“If there is one thing I have learned from this experience, it is that victims and survivors will never be safe,” she said.
“Although I can hope for justice and accountability, I have come to not trust anything.”
The prosecution argued there was legal precedent supporting a sentence exceeding ten years for Combs.
“His crimes of conviction are serious and have warranted sentences over ten years in multiple cases for defendants who, like Sean Combs, engaged in violence and put others in fear,” they wrote, requesting 11 year and three months.
Defense claims Combs has transformed
Combs’ legal representatives acknowledged at the trial’s outset that their client committed domestic abuse against Ms Ventura and his other romantic partners, but argued he did not force them into any sexual activities.
They further claimed that Combs has transformed during his detention at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York.
His professional life has been ruined – he was forced to terminate 100 staff members and his children have all lost prospects since the accusations against him went public, the defense informed the judge.
Other detainees submitted letters to the court describing their positive interactions with the music executive, noting that he has been conducting business instruction sessions titled “Free Game with Diddy.”
“He is a humbled man who understands that the most important things in life are his devotion to and quality time with his family and his contributions for the benefit of others,” they wrote in a filing.
Ms Ventura indicated in her letter that she believes this is false.
“He has no interest in changing or becoming better. He will always be the same cruel, power-hungry, manipulative man that he is,” she said.
