Dean Smith was sacked by Aston Villa after suffering five defeats in a row.
English Premier League side Norwich City FC has appointed Dean Smith as its new head coaches after sacking Daniel Farke on November 6 despite registering his first season league win against Brentford.
Dean Smith who is expected to take over reins at Norwich was sacked by Aston Villa on November 7 after a run of five defeats in a row. However, it would only take Smith 7 days to be handed the Norwich job as they look to avoid relegation this season.
Confirming Smith’s appointment, Norwich in an official statement said: “Most recently manager of fellow Premier League side Aston Villa, Smith brings a wealth of experience to Norwich City.’’
An excited Smith said: “It has been a whirlwind seven days, but I’m really pleased to be back and working for Norwich City in the Premier League. There has been some wonderful work that has gone into this football club over last four-and-a-half years. It is now the job of myself and Craig to continue and improve on that work with the ultimate aim of surviving in the Premier league.”
Dean Smith signed a two and half year contract with Norwich City Football Club and is coming in for the job with his assistant Craig Shakespeare who was with him during his spell at Aston Villa. His first premier league match is against Southampton on Saturday.
