Trump said his ideas align with those of Vance.
Donald Trump has bounced back from an assassination attempt and announced Ohio senator James David Vance as his running mate in the November 5, 2024, presidential election.Â
Vance, who was previously a strong critic of Trump describing the former president of the United States as “reprehensible” and vowed to be a “never Trump” guy, changed his stance and backed the ideas of Trump on immigration, trade, and foreign policy, especially about the policy of the US in the Russia vs. Ukraine war.
“After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio,” Trump announced via his Truth Social network.

Vance, 39, accused President Joe Biden of being responsible for the assassination attempt on Trump owing to his “fascist” rhetoric about the Republican candidate.
“The central premise of the Biden campaign is that President Donald Trump is an authoritarian fascist who must be stopped at all costs,” Vance posted on X after the shooting.
“That rhetoric led directly to President Trump’s attempted assassination.”
Biden dismissed the accusation and described the vice presidential candidate as a “clone of Trump.”
The Republican National Convention kicked off on Tuesday, and Trump, who initially planned to speak on how the US has regressed under the administration of Biden, has changed his mind and decided to speak on uniting the country.
