US authorities believe the suspect did not act alone and are investigating the possibility of a terror attack on US soil.
At least 15 people have been confirmed dead and 35 injured after a 42-year-old Texas man identified as Shamsud-Din Jabbar drove a pickup truck into a large crowd in New Orleans celebrating the New Year.
According to the FBI and state officials, an Islamic State terror organization’s flag was found in the man’s truck.
Authorities say they believe the suspect was not acting alone, as they have combed the Bourbon Street area where the attack was carried out.
The FBI and the police have launched searches in Louisiana and other states of the US as part of investigations.

President Biden said security briefings revealed that the man was inspired by the Islamic State group and had been posting videos online and expressing his “desire to kill.”

Biden also disclosed that he has directed his “team to make sure every resource is made available to federal, state, and local law enforcement to complete the investigation in New Orleans quickly and to make sure there’s no remaining threat to the American people.”
The victims of the attack are yet to be fully identified, but former Princeton University football star Martin “Tiger” Bech has been identified as one of the victims.
Authorities are also investigating the possibility of the attack being linked to a Tesla Cybertruck explosion outside the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas on New Year’s Day.
