Microsoft boss and renowned billionaire, Bill Gates, and his wife, Melinda Gates, have announced their divorce after 27 years of marriage. The pair in their tweets stated that the reason behind their divorce is because “we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple”.
Bill Gates who co-founded Microsoft in the 1970s, met Melinda when she joined the firm in the 1980s. They would go on to tie the knot and raise three children together in 27 years alongside running business and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation together. Both couples stated that their work with the foundation which has spent billions in fighting diseases and encouraging vaccinations in children, continues despite the failure of their marriage.

After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage. Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives. We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in the next phase of our lives. We ask for space and privacy for our family as we begin to navigate this new life
