Following the confirmation of the death of Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, the terrorist group has gotten a new commander whose name is Bakura Modu, also popular as Sahaba. The new leader urged commanders of his faction to remain loyal despite the death of Shekau.
Earlier this month, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) revealed that Shekau had detonated explosives on himself during a fight between both terror groups.
The fight against insurgency in Nigeria might still be far from over as it is clear that the Nigerian military which has been involved in long physical confrontations against the Jihadist group were not responsible for Shekau’s death, leading to fears that ISWAP might cause greater problems for Nigeria than Boko Haram has done.
