Boko Haram has killed thousands in over a decade/Lionscrib
The soldiers were ambushed by Boko Haram in a remote town.
Seven soldiers were ambushed and killed by terror group, Boko Haram, at Biu-Buni Road, Borno State.
A report from the Daily Trust says that the military personnel fell prey to an ambush at Kumuya, a town close to Buratai, the hometown of Nigeria’s former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (rtd).
“It’s very sad; they were soldiers of 135 Special Force BN FOB in Buratai. They were ambushed on their way to Damaturu, Yobe State, to buy fuel,” a security source disclosed.
“Unfortunately, we lost an officer, a driver, gunner and four other escorts, while the wounded are in the hospital responding to treatment.”
Among the victims is a lieutenant whose identity is yet to be made public as the country mourns the demise of another set of military officers, barely a week after the burial of soldiers who were killed during a peace mission in Delta State.

A local source whose identity is undisclosed said he barely escaped the incident after running into the attack on his way to Yadi, the hometown of the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni.
“I can’t describe the kind of gun battle that ensued; the insurgents, who were in large numbers, overwhelmed the soldiers. It’s by God’s grace that I survived,” the source said.
Nigeria has been confronted with insecurity for more than a decade, and the government has failed to end the activities of insurgents and banditry groups.
President Bola Tinubu promised to fix the challenge of insecurity during his campaign, but Nigerians are beginning to be skeptical over the recent killings of soldiers.
