Russia killed at least 30 and injured not less than 160 in its heaviest attack against Ukraine.
At least 30 deaths have been recorded in Russia’s biggest attack on Ukraine since both countries started fighting each other.
Russia hit Ukrainian cities Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Odessa, Lviv, and Kharkiv in the early hours of Friday.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia used “nearly every type of weapon in its arsenal” while carrying out the attacks that hit homes and a maternity hospital unit, leaving at least 160 people injured.
Ukraine has strengthened its air defenses in recent months, but the country’s air force said it had never witnessed so many missiles launched at once.
A Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson said Russia carried out its attacks with the use of hypersonic, cruise, and ballistic missiles that are difficult to intercept, such as the X-22.
“We’ve never seen so many targets hit simultaneously,’’ the Air Force spokesperson said.

The Ukrainian Air Force also revealed that 114 missiles out of the 158 fired by Russia were shot down.
President Zelensky has urged the international community to intervene, insisting that “it is important that the world responds to this latest act of terror. Many leaders have already expressed their support for Ukraine and Ukrainians today, and I am grateful to everyone.’’
He further disclosed that “more than 100 private houses were destroyed or damaged, as well as 45 high-rise buildings, schools, two churches, hospitals, a maternity hospital, and many commercial and warehouse premises.”
