Nigerian development expert and economist, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, has won the 2020 International Service Award of the World Affairs Councils of America. Ngozi who is also in pole position to become the next Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) shared the news on her Twitter handle on Tuesday, November 17, while also reflecting on the need for the globe to unite in pressing issues.
The former Nigerian finance minister have had a great year with series of appointments such as her role as an African Union Envoy, and her appointment by President Cyril Ramaphosa into the South African Economic Advisory Council, among others. Nigerians will be delighted to see the former managing director of the World Bank win the director general position of the WTO.
