The duo of Gabriel Jesus and Kyle Walker are set to miss Manchester City’s Boxing Day English Premier League game against Newcastle United after testing positive for corona virus. Both players were instrumental in Tuesday’s (December 22) Carabao Cup quarter-final 4-1 win against Arsenal as Gabriel Jesus scored the opener while Walker was a second-half substitute.
They are likely to miss Man City’s hectic holiday season clashes against Everton (December 28), Chelsea (January 3, 2021), and a tough EFL semi-final clash against Manchester United on January 6.
In an official statement released by City, both players alongside two staff members tested positive for the virus.
Manchester City FC can confirm that Gabriel Jesus, Kyle Walker, and two members of staff have tested positive for COVID-19. All four personnel will now observe a period of self-isolation in accordance with Premier League and UK Government protocol on quarantine. Everyone at the club wishes our colleagues a speedy recovery over the Christmas period ahead of their return to work, training and competition
